Join us on May 14th as the winners are awarded their checks and to hear the winning essay. We will also have a brick laying ceremony, refreshments, and a historical presentation. It will be a fun-filled night at the Friends of the Frontier Army Museum!

Essay Topic:

“The Faces Behind the Names”

Choose one historical monument, building, or landmark on Fort Leavenworth named after someone and explain that individual’s association with Fort Leavenworth (e.g. Grant Hall and General Ulysses Grant).

 

Essay Contest Highlights:

  • Students in grades 9-12 who attend a schools close in proximity to Fort Leavenworth.

  • Submissions should be 1000-1500 words, double-spaced, with references

  • he contest will start February 1, 2019 with an entry deadline of April 1, 2019.

  • We can only accept hardcopy submissions and they must be received by April 1 with a postmark date of 29 March.

  • Winners receive a cash award!
